Optimists creatively recycle unclaimed Christmas trees

On the first day back from Christmas vacation, the Breakfast Optimist Club of Lawrence, Kansas brought a forest to the Lawrence Arts Preschool. Forty unclaimed Christmas trees were planted in sand outside their door. According to the school administrator, they will be used as a maze, to inspire artwork, and provide a hands-on learning experience with nature.

Many Optimist Clubs feature Christmas tree sales as a fund raising activity. This provides a fun way to connect with students once the presents are gone.
